Brian Viglione, Elyas Khan, and Sxip Shirey took the stage at the same time … and tore the roof off the Legendary White Trash!

While all three have played together in various formations over the years, it took renowned producer Martin Bisi to finally fuse them into one mind melting super group at his show in Berlin, creating one of the most exciting nights of musicians from NYC anyone has seen in years!

TeTsuo c'est : un mélange de jazz, de pop, de punk, de musiques de films et de plusieurs choses aboutissant à un rubix cube musical situé entre Radiohead, Fantômas, The Ex, Cheval de Frise, Dany Elfman et les Dresden Dolls. Tetsuo a déjà défendu sa musique à plusieurs reprises sur les planches de la Centrifugeuse, mais cette fois ils ne seront pas deux mais douze… La création d’un orchestre capable de faire vivre ce melting pot d’influence sur scène est donc l’évolution logique de ce duo entiché de toutes sortes de musiques. Le big band de Tetsuo devrait être un orchestre pluriel et tout terrains. Ainsi participeront à ce projet le leader du groupe new yorkais Nervous Cabaret, Elyas Khan, ainsi que Nathalie Forget joueuse d’ondes Martenots aux côtés du groupe Radiohead. Participeront également Romain Baudoin, vieilliste dans la formation paloise Familha Artus, ainsi qu’une section cuivres musclées, une section cordes gracieuses. Bref, cela nous tarde d’entendre ce beau projet.

Phoney Island is a year-round variety-style show. The last Phoneyisland for 2009 will take place at Sowieso on Saturday 19th December! and promises No Christmas Songs - (honest-sort-of)... Elyas may reenact Silent Night if the orchestra is game!

Performers will be some of the best from this year and some new faces (like Elyas).  The format is variety (something like 10 minute slots), so come early and enjoy the show!
