The December 3rd gathering at L´International requires a historic flow chart (kinds the way Gabriel García Márquez gives you one before he begins an epic)… it´s something like this:
Chad Parks, an NYC musician with iconic American voice along the lines of Johnny Cash hears London´s Sexy Butchers on MySpace and send them a message telling them how much he loves their punk-rock sound. They strike up a back and forth and a year later, Chad goes to play with them in London. ... Six months later Chad tells the guys in Nervous Cabaret that Sexy Butchers are going to be in Paris the same time they are. Nervous Cabaret invite Sexy Butchers and Shunatao to play a show at Paris´s La Fleche D´Or – which turns out to be an off the rails all out rock mayhem inducing party, inspiring Elyas to later write the song "Les Enfants du Papillon" about Shunatao´s singer Henri and his then girlfriend Eve. – Everyone Goes Home.
Two years go by: Mat and Andrew (Sexy Butchers) start an ambitious 3 Album project under the name Three Black Eyes. They invite Chad Parks to be their vocalist. Chad recruits many other players and vocalists from the NYC area and all of things get recorded and fly back & forth across the Atlantic via internet. …In the meantime, Chad records his own record (yet to be released), which Elyas produces. And, earlier in 2008, Nervous Cabaret recruits Mat to play bass with them in Europe, Elyas goes to Berlin after that tour where he also gets recruited to work on the Three Black Eyes project as a vocalist.
THIS SHOW IS THE CULMINATION OF THESE 3 YEARS.

I love playing outdoor shows and the audience in Nevers was very excited. I had a good time talking to Bruno Green and his band back stage. This was before the US presidential election so there was a lot of talk about the absolute necessity of Obama winning the election and the fact that the struggle to change the current state of things was by no means over if he wins. |
