The next fantastic news to come rolling along in the past week is that KiD [SiC] (Elyas Khan) has been selected by the MacDowell Colony as a composer in residence. The decision was based on the score which Elyas wrote for Charcoal Boy. The score was performed live by Nervous Cabaret last summer during it's development as part of St Ann's Warehouse Puppet Lab.

The MacDowell Colony was awarded the National Medal of Arts for "nurturing and inspiring many of this century's finest artists." With great reverence for that legacy Elyas Khan, along with Charcoal Boy creators and puppeteers Sarah Provost and Eric Novak, will join ranks of the long list of artists who have been awarded residency, including such venerables as Spalding Gray and Leonard Bernstein.

Nervous Cabaret has been chosen as a featured artist on Sony World Event Village!

NERVOUS CABARET is extremely honoured to be along side such world renowned artists as Musafir.

Nervous Cabaret are hugely saddened to learn of the sudden death of independent music's greatest champion, John Peel.

A sad day indeed.

Recording for the upcoming album is complete!

The album mastering date is set with Greg Calbi at Sterling Sound in NYC for first week of October.

Official release date is yet to be set but an advance pressing is expected to be out in time for Christmas!

The new Tears For Fears album, Everybody Loves A Happy Ending, the latest recording to feature Nervous Cabaret's drummer Brian Geltner (a.k.a. Dr. Snitch) hits the stores today: September 14th!

Nervous Cabaret has returned from a wonderful success in Paris and is heading back into the recording studio at Old Soul for the weekend of June 11th with producer Kenny Siegel and engineer Tom Schick to continue work on the forthcoming second release.

Nervous Cabaret will appear on the Tony Blair show, on East Village Radio, Wednesday, April 14th at 9:00pm.

If the weather is nice, you're invited to come down and listen live while Nervous Cabaret plays and does a Q&A session with DJ Tony Blair, otherwise, you can listen to their live stream online at Live 365.

KiD [SiC] is set to begin performances of his newly composed score for The Adventures of Charcoal Boy.

The Adventures of Charcoal Boy is a puppet show about a boy formed of charcoal by a cruel and beautiful occurrence of nature and his harrowing adventures of love, sorrow... and circus freak shows. Elyas and the story's creators, puppeteers Eric Novak and Sarah Provost, have been in residency at Mabou Mines leading up to this performance.

Tune in to Radio Nova, Paris, on Tuesday, February 23rd to hear Nervous Cabaret's single "Kid Sick" from their EP Ecstatic Music for Savage Souls.

The song will be played between 2:00 and 2:15 EST (20h - 20h15 Paris) during the show "Le 20H de LAZIC" - a segment which features eclectic new music that's caught the attention of the Radio Nova team.

Radio Nova provides a live internet stream, so everybody can tune in!

Nervous Cabaret has inked a deal to record their full-length album at Old Soul Studios in Catskill NY.

Producer Kenny Seigel and Engineer Tom Schick will be in the studio with the band beginning late February.

Reel Round Table has announced that Nervous Cabaret will return to their weekly film program this year, this time for a month long residency in March 2004.

The Reel Roundtable is a weekly series that caters to the independent film industry. Part of their weekly series includes short showcases by local musicians to introduce filmmakers to possible partners for original music scoring.

Nervous Cabaret's KiD [SiC] is working with artists Sarah Provost and Eric Novak scoring their upcoming theatrical production The Adventures of Charcoal Boy.

The artists are in residency at Mabou Mines and the project has also been accepted at St. Anne's Warehouse.

The stage show will include live soundtrack performance by Nervous Cabaret.
Show dates will be announced early in 2004

Every Dog's Day, a feature film Directed by Andy Biscontini has wrapped and is finalizing preliminary screening dates in September (TBA).

Every Dog's Day includes a screen performance by Nervous Cabaret and a character performance by Elyas Khan. The movie soundtrack features songs by great bands including Pneumatic and Radio Mundial.

Nervous Cabaret is back in NYC after a fantastic trip to Europe. The reception in Geneva, Paris and Berlin was even more than we'd hoped for! We will be back, soon!

Saturday, June 14th Superfine will host the Nervous Cabaret European tour fundraiser. Nervous Cabaret will be joined on stage by some of our favorite acts. On stage that evening: performance artist Noelle Scumwrench, musical comedian "Big D" Don McCloskey, with music from Chad Parks, Pneumatic, and Bronx Monx.

Nervous Cabaret is honored to have a huge show of support for this event from Superfine, and from many people in our community, artistic and geographic, who are lending us their talent and services to make this evening a success.

Nervous Cabaret will leave for Paris on June 16th and continue on to Switzerland where the tour begins with a show in Geneva, moves to Neuchâtel on June 21st for performances at Art en Plein Air and The Dancing Flower Bar with What's Wrong with Us?. Johnny Society will be supporting Chris">http://www.chriswhitley.com">Chris Whitley and his new band at gigs in almost all the states in the US plus one gig in Ottawa, Canada.

Peripheral City, created and produced by Red Dive, is a boat voyage down Brooklyn's Gowanus Canal celebrating the stories of local residents, activists, artists and more. Fred, our beloved coronet player, will tantalize voyagers ears as they glide along through the journey. Starts Saturday, May 24th.

Elyas Khan is ready to take the stage as Capulet in Uber Project: House Plague, an adaptation of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.

Performances will run from April 1-20th, 2003 at The Belt Theater: 336 West 37th St. (btw. 8/9th Avenue).

Two floors of entertainment will be on offer at CBGB gallery on April 26th!

The night will feature two of our favorite performers - - SXIP and Zero Boy as well as many other great performers from NYC and San Francisco. Check out Laughing Squid for details.
